Job title: Alliances Field Engineer
About the Role Canonical is hiring an Alliances Field Engineer to help our biggest partners understand and embrace Canonical’s open source platform for themselves and their customers. This role sits at the intersection of technology and business, enabling enterprise adoption of Ubuntu, OpenStack, Kubernetes, AI/MLOps and related technologies through partner ecosystems.
What You'll Do
- Understand Ubuntu, Linux, networking and services in real-world environments.
- Architect cloud infrastructure solutions like Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, and Spark either On-Premises or in Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Architect and integrate popular open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra and NGINX.
- Help partners to offer and architect joint solutions utilizing Canonical’s technologies on top of the public clouds and in the data center.
- Design and publish joint reference architectures and go-to-market narratives with partners from a technical standpoint.
What We're Looking For
- Strong understanding of Ubuntu and Linux, with experience in networking and services in real-world environments.
- Experience architecting cloud infrastructure solutions (Kubernetes, Kubeflow, OpenStack, Ceph, Spark) On-Premises or in Public Cloud (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Experience integrating open source software such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka, Cassandra and NGINX.
- Ability to collaborate with OEMs, Global System Integrators (GSI), Independent Software Vendors (ISV), channel partners and Public Cloud alliance partners to define joint go-to-market programs from a technical standpoint.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate customer problems into clear technical solutions.
- Willingness to travel to meet customers and partners as needed.
