About this role

About the Role The Airport Operations Manager oversees day-to-day and long-range operations for the City's Aviation facilities, including Dayton International Airport, Dayton Wright Brothers Airport, and the downtown heliport. They manage HVAC, structural maintenance, and housekeeping, assist in expansion plans, and ensure compliance with FAA rules and emergency responsiveness. What You'll Do

  • Manage maintenance and new construction functions for all Department of Aviation facilities to ensure efficient operation and regulatory compliance.
  • Direct preparations of FAA compliance manuals to maintain certified carrier facility status for operations.
  • Maintain relationships with FAA, TSA, airlines, tenants, FBI, contractors and other City departments.
  • Inspect airport buildings, airfield infrastructure, and equipment; provide cost estimates; make maintenance/improvement recommendations.
  • Lead snow and ice removal and have authority to close runways in adverse weather.
  • Respond to emergencies (fires, power outages, bomb threats, etc.).
  • Prepare and oversee operating and capital budgets for the division.
  • Oversee emergency activities relative to weather and accidents; make decisions as warranted.
  • Assist in inspection of new construction in progress for conformance with approved plans and participate in expansion planning. What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Airport Management, Facilities Management, Engineering, Business, Public Administration or related field AND five years of experience in Airport Operations or five years of experience in Facilities Management.
  • Degree must be from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education through the North Central Association of Colleges and Universities or equivalent region.
  • Valid driver's license at time of appointment and maintain as a condition of employment.
  • Background check: background investigation and evidence of Employment Authorization and Identity required; pass any level of background investigation applicable.
  • Medical Examination & Drug and Nicotine Testing: final appointment contingent upon passing a job-related medical exam including drug screen; applicants must pass nicotine screening; tobacco and nicotine free as a condition of continued employment.
