About the Role Stratolaunch seeks an Aircraft Maintenance and Systems Technician to fabricate, install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and modify aircraft airframes, systems and components for its hypersonic test platforms. The role requires thriving in a fast-paced R&D environment and comfort with the design, development, and test life cycle of rapid aerospace projects. This position is based in Mojave, CA and may involve work on new projects as Stratolaunch expands its program base. What You'll Do
- Install, test and maintain aircraft systems and components (fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical/avionics, engine, airframe/structures).
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance: inspections, repairs, ADs, modifications, troubleshooting.
- Conduct thorough inspections of systems, components, and structures.
- Perform line maintenance: preflight, postflight, launch, and recovery.
- Ensure proper, timely entries in the Aircraft Maintenance Discrepancy Log (MDL).
- Operate power tools and equipment with expert proficiency.
- Maintain aircraft per work instructions, inspection plans, and standards (AC 43-13, manuals, blueprints).
- Interpret electrical schematics for avionics installation.
- Operate ground handling equipment as required.
- Work in confined spaces or heights above 25 feet.
- Collaborate with Engineering to solve design/installation problems and improve build time.
- Demonstrate SME-level capability with broad industry knowledge. What We're Looking For
- 5+ years’ experience in aircraft systems troubleshooting, fabrication, installation and maintenance, including multiple systems (fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical/avionics, engine, airframe/structures).
- Experience with line maintenance: preflight, postflight, launch, recovery.
- Sheetmetal fabrication/maintenance/modification; LRUs/subsystems (flight control, landing gear, pneumatic).
- Strong FOD and tool control.
- Detail oriented with strong attention to detail.
- Problem solving and adaptability to changing priorities.
- Ability to work independently; take initiative and mentor teammates.
- Ability to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance.
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule.
- Level II: High school diploma/equivalency and 5-10 years in aircraft maintenance; A&P license required; IA preferred but not required; flight line/test experience preferred.
- This position is located in Mojave, CA and may require travel to offsite locations depending on aircraft dispatch location.
- Base salary and leveling established on a case-by-case basis. Nice to Have
- IA preferred but not required.
- Flight line or flight test experience preferred. Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: USD 38.50-$61.88 per hour (Level II).
- 9/80 schedule.
