About the Role Abilene Christian University seeks an Air Conditioning Technician I to maintain and repair campus HVAC systems under the supervision of Facilities Management, with emphasis on system efficiency, indoor air quality, and collaboration on remodeling projects.
What You'll Do
- Maintain, repair, and replace HVAC equipment including reciprocating and centrifugal systems, associated electrical components, controls, refrigerant handling and charging.
- Maintain, repair, and replace hot water, condenser, and chilled water systems, including pumps, valves, and cooling towers.
- Maintain, repair, and replace air-moving, heating, cooling, humidification, and filtering equipment (fans, heat pumps, rooftop units, server room cooling units, humidistats, duct stats, etc.).
- Maintain, repair, and replace fume hood components.
- Maintain, repair, and replace low pressure boilers and combustion controls.
- Maintain, repair, and replace equipment related to heating/cooling (air compressors, air dryers, etc.).
- Fabricate tubing or piping for pneumatic controls and refrigeration (soldering, brazing, welding).
- Operate energy management/building automation systems that control heating and cooling.
- Read and record gauge readings from various equipment.
- Perform minor installation/modification work on heating/cooling systems and controls, including planning, estimating materials, and coordinating with other trades.
- Inspect work sites for safety and impact on related trades; coordinate to prevent outages.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
