About this role

Company Description

We’re Jetstar. You may know us for our famous low fares, but did you also know that we’ve flown more than 400 million customers since we launched in Australia in 2004? In fact, each week we operate around 3,000 flights to nearly 40 destinations across Australia, New Zealand, Asia and the Pacific. We also operate a fleet of more than 80 aircraft, including state-of-the-art Airbus A320/21 NEO aircraft and the Airbus A320 family and Boeing 787-8s. Every day we enable more people to takeoff to more places, more often.

Impressive numbers? What's even more impressive is the team of extraordinary people taking off together day in day out, flight after flight.

Our people are the real jet stars!

Job Description

  • Shape practical AI governance that supports safe, responsible adoption across Jetstar.
  • Work across emerging technology, automation, risk, data and business teams.
  • Grow your career with travel benefits across Jetstar and the Qantas Group. As the AI Governance & Enablement Specialist, you’ll run Jetstar’s AI governance day to day, within Qantas Group standards. You’ll classify AI use cases by risk, set the oversight and approval path each one needs, and keep a complete, accurate register of the AI Jetstar uses. That covers solutions built by our technology team, AI inside enterprise platforms, and a growing volume of AI built by staff.

You’ll have the authority to pause a use case that is operating outside its classification. You’ll also represent Jetstar in Qantas Group AI governance forums. Reporting to the Manager, Technology Innovation, you’ll work with business owners, technology, data, automation, Cyber Security Risk and Qantas Group teams, influencing through clear frameworks, evidence and escalation. The role is based in Melbourne with hybrid working.

What you’ll be doing

  • Run Jetstar’s AI governance framework and register in line with Qantas Group standards, covering observability, human oversight, transparency, fairness, privacy and accountability.

  • Assess and classify AI use cases, set the right oversight and approval pathway, and keep governance records and audit trails accurate and current.

  • Govern staff-built AI at scale through guardrails, platform controls, maker certification and a network of AI Champions.

  • Assess new AI and automation ideas for value, feasibility, risk, data readiness and total cost of ownership before build begins.

  • Implement control requirements for agentic AI, including agent identity, tool permissions and data access, with architecture and platform owners.

  • Operate governance gates through delivery, confirm readiness for go-live, and obtain ongoing attestations from business owners. What you’ll bring

  • 3+ years’ experience in AI, emerging technology or automation, including governance, assurance or controls work in an operating business.

  • Experience running a governance process reliably day to day, ideally on supporting tooling such as a use case inventory, control library, or assessment workflow.

  • Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 42001, the NIST AI Risk Management Framework and the Australian Government’s Guidance for AI Adoption

  • Enough technical literacy to review a model card, question an evaluation and spot a solution unlikely to hold up in production.

  • Experience assessing use cases for value, feasibility, operational risk, and total cost of ownership.

  • Knowledge of the security risks of third-party models, agent platforms, and system permissions, enough to engage Cybersecurity as a peer.

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent experience.

  • IAPP AIGP, ISO/IEC 42001 lead implementer or auditor, or an equivalent AI governance credential desirable Your life at Jetstar is unlike any other
