About the Role This role is with UCSF Health and seeks an AI Engineer to design, build, and deploy scalable AI-driven applications that enhance clinical operations, patient care, and health system efficiency. It covers the full AI lifecycle—from data pipeline development to model training/evaluation and deployment of ML and generative AI on cloud platforms—and involves translating cutting-edge technologies, including large language models, into production-ready tools that integrate with healthcare systems.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and deploy scalable AI-driven applications to improve clinical operations, patient care, and health system efficiency.
- Lead end-to-end AI lifecycle including data pipelines, model training/evaluation, and deployment of ML and generative AI models on modern cloud platforms.
- Translate and operationalize emerging technologies, including large language models, into production-ready tools that integrate with clinical and operational workflows.
- Develop robust data pipelines, deploy ML and generative AI models, and create APIs or web-based applications to enable seamless use in clinical workflows.
- Collaborate closely with clinicians, data scientists, and IT teams to ensure solutions are reliable, secure, and scalable.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience as a software, data, or machine learning engineer.
- Proven experience building data pipelines and deploying ML/generative AI models.
- Experience with modern cloud platforms and APIs/web applications.
- Strong understanding of AI/ML fundamentals and ability to translate research into production.
- Familiarity with healthcare environments and clinical workflows is a plus.

- Experience applying AI in healthcare settings.
