Your role and responsibilities In this role you will join IBM Consulting via our world-class Associate Program for university hires. As an AI Associate, you will work with IBM Consulting teams to help clients identify, design, build, and deploy AI and Generative AI solutions that address real business problems. You are not expected to be an AI expert from day one. You will work closely with experienced consultants, AI engineers, data scientists, architects, and client teams while continuously developing your technical and consulting capabilities. You will be expected to understand business requirements, work with data, use AI/ML technologies to build practical solutions, and contribute to the implementation and operation of AI services.

Your primary responsibilities will include: AI Solution Development: Using Python and AI/ML frameworks to perform data processing, model development, testing, and result analysis. Generative AI and LLM Application Development: Supporting the construction of LLM-based applications that utilize diverse data such as documents, knowledge, product information, and work materials; connecting external data to LLMs, improving response quality and accuracy through Prompt Engineering, and addressing issues such as hallucination and consistency. Data Preparation and Analysis: Participating in the development of AI applications that connect external data to LLMs by using Python, SQL, and related tools to query, transform, analyze data, and derive meaningful patterns and insights for AI solution development. AI Model Development and Testing: Engaging in training, testing, and evaluation of AI models, experimenting with data, parameters, and algorithms to improve model performance using metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 score. AI Solution Integration: Connecting AI/ML and Generative AI solutions to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud) and existing IT systems, and participating in the development and deployment processes using DevOps toolchains. AI Agent and Automation: Implementing AI agents that link LLMs, tools, APIs, and enterprise data to perform tasks, uncover use cases, and develop improvement ideas. Client Project and Consulting Support: Documenting project progress, test results, analysis outcomes, and technical issues in a way that is accessible to clients who may not be AI experts, helping them understand AI concepts and practical applications.

Required education Bachelor's Degree

Required technical and professional expertise

• Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, or related fields
• Understanding of basic AI and ML concepts and knowledge of neural networks and major ML algorithms
• Understanding of Generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) with practical experience in Prompt Engineering or using LLM APIs
• Understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
• Environments and languages: Jupyter Notebook, Python, Pandas, NumPy, SQL, GitHub
• Basic understanding of Cloud Computing (AWS, Azure, IBM Cloud)
• Preferred: Experience on AI/ML/Data Science projects or research
• Preferred: AI-related certifications or certifications in AWS/Azure/IBM Cloud
• Logical problem-solving abilities
• Ability to quickly learn new AI technologies and apply them to real work
• Ability to document technical content and explain it to others
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with team members and clients from various roles
• English language proficiency with test results noted on resume
