Key responsibilities

• We are looking for an AI Algo Quant Trader to join our algorithmic trading team in UBS Global Markets, specialising in FX Options.
• This is a senior front-office role combining quantitative research, AI and trading. You will develop and deploy machine-learning-driven approaches to pricing, market-making, execution and automated risk management, taking ideas from research and large-scale data analysis through to live production.
• You will also help shape the team's AI strategy, identify new opportunities and provide technical leadership across quantitative trading and AI.

Responsibilities

• AI-Driven Trading Strategies: Design, back-test and implement systematic trading strategies using quantitative, machine learning and AI techniques.

• Advanced Quantitative Research: Apply statistical learning, deep learning, time-series modelling and other modern AI methods to pricing, quoting, execution, liquidity and automated risk management.

• Signal & Data Research: Extract predictive information from large-scale market, trading and client datasets, developing robust features and models for noisy and non-stationary financial data.

• Full Lifecycle Ownership: Take models from research and validation through coding, deployment and real-time monitoring, with rigorous attention to out-of-sample performance, overfitting, model drift and changing market regimes.

• Trading Performance: Analyse strategy performance, PnL and risk exposures, using empirical evidence to enhance existing models and identify new trading opportunities.

• Technical Leadership & Innovation: Originate research ideas, challenge modelling assumptions, mentor colleagues and work closely with traders, quants and engineers to integrate AI-driven strategies into our e-trading platform.

• Your expertise

• Essential skills and qualifications

• Quantitative Excellence: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, physics, engineering, quantitative finance or another quantitative discipline.

• AI & Machine Learning: Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of modern machine learning, including statistical learning, deep learning and time-series modelling. Experience with reinforcement learning or sequential decision-making is valuable.

• AI for Markets: Strong understanding of challenges such as low signal-to-noise ratios, non-stationarity, overfitting, data leakage, transaction costs and regime changes.

• Programming: Strong Python skills and experience with modern data science and ML frameworks such as NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, PyTorch or JAX.

• Production & Ownership: Demonstrated ability to take quantitative or ML research from initial idea through robust validation and into production.

• Leadership: Proven ability to originate research, provide technical direction, challenge existing approaches and mentor quantitative researchers and traders.

• Communication & Collaboration: Strong communicator and collaborative team player, comfortable working across trading, quantitative research and technology.

• Desirable experience

• Experience in electronic trading, market-making, derivatives or FX, particularly FX Options, is highly desirable. Experience with large-scale ML infrastructure, reinforcement learning, GPU computing or generative AI applied to quantitative research is also advantageous.
