Job Description

Global Merchant & Network Services brings together American Express' merchant and network-related businesses. This includes the management of our relationships across the globe with both the millions of merchants who accept American Express, as well as our partners in countries and territories that deliver card acceptance, issuance and innovation.

This newly created Amsterdam (preferred) or Brussels-based position will report directly to the AEPE Business Operations Manager Benelux in the AEPE Continental Europe Business Operations team to strengthen capability within the AEPE Legal Entity Belux & Netherlands Branch and across GMNS Continental Europe.

The AEPE Benelux Business Operations Analyst will coordinate defined regional workstreams, governance routines, audits, regulatory examinations, and second-line testing activities. The successful candidate will help maintain clear management visibility, disciplined action tracking, strong evidence management and scalable processes in the market and stakeholder groups.

This is an analyst role with ownership of defined deliverables. The role is intended to combine PMO discipline, risk and governance support, management reporting and digital process improvement rather than provide purely administrative assistance.

Responsibilities

  • PMO and market governance

  • Coordinate assigned AEPE Business Operations programmes and workstreams, maintaining plans, milestones, actions, dependencies, decisions and delivery risks.

  • Prepare governance materials, status updates, action logs and management reporting for regional forums and leadership reviews.

  • Follow up with owners, escalate delays or blockers and maintain clear evidence of decisions and completion.

  • Support portfolio prioritization and consolidated visibility of Business Operations demand, capacity and delivery progress.

  • Audit, regulatory examination and 2LOD coordination

  • Provide PMO coordination for multi-market internal audits, external audits, regulatory examinations, questionnaires and 2LOD testing or effective-challenge activities, including ICT reviews and remediation.

  • Coordinate evidence requests, market and stakeholder inputs, response timelines, submission tracking and remediation actions.

  • Maintain structured SharePoint repositories and audit-ready records to ensure information is accessible, consistent and traceable.

  • Produce accurate progress reporting and escalate missed actions, evidence gaps, dependencies or risks to timely delivery.

  • Management reporting and executive materials

  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc dashboards, governance packs, Business Update Review materials and executive presentations.

  • Consolidate information into clear, concise and decision-oriented updates.

  • Maintain key operational and governance metrics covering requests, audits, regulatory activity, actions, risks and remediation status.

  • Perform data checks and analysis to identify trends, delivery concerns and opportunities for intervention or improvement.

  • Process improvement, automation and documentation

  • Design and maintain SharePoint solutions, trackers, approval workflows and reporting tools supporting Business Operations processes.

  • Support digital solutions that reduce manual effort, strengthen traceability and improve scalability.

  • Document operating procedures, governance frameworks, process ownership and control requirements in a centralized repository.

  • Identify opportunities to standardize processes and improve data quality, controls, user experience and management visibility.

  • Business Operations enablement

  • Support implementation and ongoing operation of regional governance processes, including Business Operations requests, contract governance, training governance and recurring surveys or reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate stakeholders with Risk, Compliance, Control Management, Legal, Regulatory Reporting and Internal Audit.

  • Support new initiatives and regulatory changes by clarifying requirements, organizing delivery and tracking readiness.

  • When required, contribute to third party management (TRM) tasks.

  • Contribute to a collaborative, well-controlled and continuous-improvement culture within AEPE Business Operations.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Risk Management, Law or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Relevant experience in PMO, Business Operations, Risk Management, Governance, Audit, Compliance, Regulatory or project delivery in a multinational or regulated environment.

  • Demonstrated experience coordinating cross-functional projects or workstreams, tracking actions and risks, and managing delivery through multiple stakeholders.

  • Experience preparing management reporting, dashboards, executive presentations or governance materials.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and take ownership of defined deliverables with appropriate guidance.

  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the confidence to follow up, challenge constructively and escalate when required.

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with SharePoint and collaborative document or evidence repositories.

  • Experience with workflow automation or comparable reporting and process tools is highly valued.

  • Fluency in English and at least one of the following languages: Dutch or French

  • Employment eligibility to work with American Express in Belgium is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.
