About the Role
The role supports Thurgood Marshall College Fund's advocacy and higher education policy efforts. It focuses on engaging with Congress and federal agencies to advance sound education policy that supports our schools, students and community, with emphasis on Pell, financial aid, student loans, Title III programs, STEM education, and America’s College Promises. What You'll Do

Engage with elected officials and federal agencies to advocate for higher education policy priorities during discussions of Pell, financial aid, student loans, Title III programs, STEM education, and related issues.

Help policy teams prepare background information, briefing materials, and talking points to support meetings with Congress and federal agencies.

Share TMCF's resources, such as the HBCU Coalition Budget Request and Tips for a Successful Congressional or Agency Meeting, with member institutions and partners to facilitate informed dialogue.

Assist with coordinating Take Action activities and helping raise awareness among alumni and supporters to advocate for HBCUs funding and policy priorities.

Stay up-to-date on policy issues affecting HBCUs to empower conversations with policymakers.

Support events and coalitions and collaborate with the U.S. House Education and Workforce Committee and U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions as needed. What We're Looking For

Interest in higher education policy and federal education policy issues relevant to HBCUs.

Ability to understand and communicate about topics such as Pell, financial aid, student loans, Title III programs, and STEM education.

Commitment to bipartisan engagement and to advancing policy that benefits member institutions and communities.

Strong written and verbal communication skills to explain complex policy topics to diverse audiences.

Willingness to learn and utilize policy background information and resources.
