University of New England Admissions Counselor
The Undergraduate Admissions Counselor serves as a frontline enrollment professional at the University of New England (UNE), building relationships with prospective students and their families and guiding them from initial inquiry through enrollment. This goal-oriented role is responsible for managing an assigned recruitment territory and achieving enrollment targets for both fall and spring intake periods.
Success in this position requires strong organizational and relationship-building skills, the ability to manage a high-volume recruitment pipeline, and the ability to communicate UNE’s value to a diverse range of prospective students. The counselor guides students through the enrollment decision-making process, addressing cost considerations, competing institutions, and family dynamics. With support from UNE’s enrollment and marketing strategies and coaching from the Senior Assistant Director of Recruitment, the counselor will implement targeted outreach, manage prospective student engagement, and employ effective strategies to convert inquiries into enrolled students.
This position requires extensive travel, a results-oriented mindset, and a commitment to helping students identify the educational opportunities that best align with their goals.

Responsibilities

Recruitment & Territory Management
-
Manage an assigned recruitment territory and prospective student pipeline, with accountability for meeting fall and spring enrollment targets.

Identify and prioritize prospective students, implement targeted outreach through phone, email, text, and in-person engagement, and guide students through each stage of the enrollment funnel.

Use Slate CRM data to track engagement, prioritize follow-up, forecast enrollment, identify at-risk prospects, and monitor performance with the Senior Assistant Director of Recruitment, adjusting strategies as needed.

Represent UNE through high school visits, college fairs, community events, and other outreach activities to generate inquiries and build awareness.

Develop relationships with high school counselors, community organizations, and other referral sources while identifying opportunities to grow the prospective student pipeline.

Student Engagement & Enrollment

Engage prospective students and families through individual appointments, campus visits, virtual meetings, and group information sessions to support enrollment decisions.

Communicate UNE’s academic programs, student experience, and value proposition in ways that align with prospective students’ goals.

Address cost and financial aid concerns, competing institutions, and family hesitation with empathy, confidence, and accurate information.

Prepare and deliver admissions presentations to prospective students, families, and school counselors.

Review applications within the assigned territory in accordance with University policies and holistic review practices, ensuring timely decisions that support enrollment.

Participate in on- and off-campus recruitment events, including Open Houses, campus visit programs, and Accepted Student events, to support enrollment and yield.

Administration & Reporting

Maintain accurate CRM records of recruitment activities and prospective student interactions.

Report on territory performance, pipeline status, and progress toward enrollment goals in collaboration with the Senior Assistant Director of Recruitment.

Coordinate travel and administrative responsibilities efficiently to maximize high-impact recruitment activities.

Institutional Knowledge & Culture

Maintain current knowledge of UNE’s academic programs, campus life, policies, and procedures to accurately represent the University.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
-
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
-
Goal-oriented, with the ability to meet targets, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build rapport, present to groups, and navigate complex conversations with prospective students and families.

Ability to manage high-volume outreach and pipelines, including daily proactive phone and email communication.

Ability to travel extensively, including evenings and weekends, and a valid driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications
-
One or more years of experience in college admissions, enrollment management, sales, account management, or a related field.

Experience using a CRM platform for pipeline management; familiarity with Slate preferred.

Ability to address objections and guide decision-making through a consultative, relationship-driven approach.

Familiarity with UNE’s undergraduate programs and their educational goals and objectives.

Experience with public speaking, event coordination, or student advising.

Physical Requirements
-
Ability to travel by car and air, transport recruitment materials weighing up to 30 pounds, and work extended hours during peak recruitment seasons, typically fall and spring.
