Job title: Admissions Counselor

About the Role The Admissions Counselor supports IIT's Undergraduate Admissions team by identifying and recruiting prospective undergraduate students within a defined Chicago-based territory. The role uses data-driven planning, outreach, and relationship-building to support enrollment goals, and involves extensive travel, weekend and evening work, and both in-person and virtual activities.

What You'll Do

  • Manage all aspects of recruitment for an assigned Chicago territory, developing and executing a strategic plan based on data analysis, historical trends, and institutional priorities.
  • Cultivate relationships with high school counselors, community-based organizations, students, and families through school visits, college fairs, presentations, and individualized follow-up.
  • Evaluate undergraduate applications for admission per policies and holistic review practices; assess academic records, personal essays, recommendation letters, and other materials.
  • Plan and participate in outreach initiatives including school visits, college fairs, workshops, and on- and off-campus events; maintain engagement records and analyze application/yield data.
  • Collaborate with campus partners and enrollment teams to meet enrollment goals; demonstrate professional communication and judgment.
  • Travel extensively throughout the year; work flexible hours including weekends and evenings; perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree required; 0-2 years’ experience.
  • Excellent public speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Highly organized, goal-oriented, able to multi-task, and with strong leadership abilities.
  • Knowledge of admission and recruitment software; experience with CRM systems preferred.
  • General knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, social media, and presentation software.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based environment; strong time management and flexibility for travel.

Nice to Have

  • CRM experience or familiarity with admissions/recruitment technologies beyond the basics.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary: $40,000 – $45,000 per year (USD).
  • Benefits eligibility includes IIT’s competitive benefits package.
