Admissions Advisor

About the Role Abilene Christian University's Admissions Advisor position recruits graduate students, providing program information and guidance on enrollment while supporting the university's Christian mission. The role involves counseling prospective students, explaining options, and coordinating with campus partners to ensure a smooth enrollment process.

What You'll Do

• Conduct student conversations and appointments to identify educational goals and disseminate program information to potential students.
• Advise prospective students about enrollment, transferability, and applicability of previous education, program options, requirements, and progress.
• Provide information on university policies, practices, and rules, using judgment and discretion.
• Assist potential students with financial obligations in partnership with university financial staff.
• Build professional rapport with new and potential students to enhance the student experience.
• Monitor enrollment progress and identify barriers; coordinate with team members to resolve issues.
• Communicate effectively via telephone and/or in person; perform appropriate follow-up.
• Maintain alignment with university policies during enrollment and support team with accurate information.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred (ACU graduate highly preferred).
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills; goal-oriented and driven.
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks; ability to travel; valid driver's license.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey university information clearly.
• Strong presentation skills and comfort presenting to groups both large and small.
• Self-motivated, able to work effectively in a team environment.
• Computer literacy and ability to learn proprietary software; experience in higher education advising preferred.
• Knowledge of the higher education market and industry; ability to relate to students and guide enrollment decisions.
• Flexible hours to contact students when available.

Nice to Have
