Job title: Admission Counselor
About the Role The Admission Counselor recruits, counsels, and admits prospective students to Luther College. This role manages recruitment within an assigned geographic territory and serves as the primary contact for prospective students and families, school counselors, and community partners throughout the college search process. The position involves extensive travel during fall and spring recruitment seasons and occasional overnight/weekend travel year-round.
What You'll Do
- Develop and implement a territory recruitment plan and manage a recruitment strategy for an assigned geographic territory.
- Build and maintain relationships with prospective students and their families, high school counselors, community-based organizations, and other key partners.
- Plan and conduct high school visits, attend college fairs and community events, and represent Luther College at recruitment events.
- Monitor territory performance and adjust recruitment strategies based on enrollment goals and market conditions.
- Communicate with students and families via email, text, phone, virtual meetings, and in-person interactions.
- Conduct admissions conversations and provide accurate information on academic programs, student life, financial aid, scholarships, and the admissions process.
- Evaluate applications for admission in accordance with institutional policies; maintain accurate records; utilize the CRM for admissions, communication, and data analysis.
- Participate in the planning and execution of campus visit programs, off-campus admitted student events, and other recruitment events; assist with campus visit coverage.
- Serve as a liaison to assigned departments and campus offices; lead or contribute to strategic projects supporting enrollment goals, visitor engagement, and student recruitment.
- Participate in departmental planning, training, and assessment; perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in any major; strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
- One year of relevant experience preferred; experience in sales, marketing, counseling, or higher education is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal skills; enthusiastic, goal-oriented, self-motivated, team-oriented; capable of representing Luther positively to prospective students and parents; sense of humor desirable.
- Valid driver's license and a driving record that will enable insurance through the college.
- Ability to cultivate inclusive and equitable working relationships with students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, and friends of the college.
- Travel readiness and a willingness to engage with diverse communities.

Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $36,000 - $40,000 per year.
