Job title: Administrative Specialist 4 - Court Mediator
About the Role The Burlington Vicinage is seeking a highly motivated, dependable Administrative Specialist 4 to assist in the management of General Equity, Probate, Foreclosure, Civil and Special Civil cases as a Court Mediator. This role involves mediating disputes, supporting case management, and training staff and volunteers to apply dispute resolution skills.
What You'll Do
- Prepare for and convene mediation hearings and other conferences, and report results to the Court.
- Facilitate communication between counsel and parties to identify issues and move toward resolution without trial, or prep for trial.
- Review, interpret and analyze written materials; develop administrative control systems and procedures to ensure efficient mediation programs and case management.
- Act as a lead worker, provide direction and feedback, analyze cases in accordance with existing laws and practices; respond to complaints; explain judiciary policies to clients.
- Perform related duties as required; maintain regular and predictable presence at the worksite.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree and four years of experience in professional case management and/or dispute resolution.
- Substitution: additional paraprofessional/professional experience on a year-for-year basis may be substituted for education (one year of such experience equals 30 semester hour credits). An associate degree plus two years of such experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree.
- A master's degree or a Juris Doctor may substitute for one or two years of experience (master's or JD, not both). Note: A master’s degree or a law degree may be used as a substitution, not both.
- Degrees conferred outside the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service.
- Driver's License: Appointees will be required to possess a New Jersey driver's license only if vehicle operation is necessary to perform essential duties.
- Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required; selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US.
- A thorough background check, including fingerprinting, will be required for newly hired employees.
Nice to Have
- Graduation from an accredited law school and a Juris Doctor degree with experience in civil practice relating to litigation or dispute resolution and prior experience as a court-appointed mediator or settlement agent are preferred but not required.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $81,866.60 to $127,586.80 (Schedule A) and $81,866.60 to $121,207.46 (Schedule B).
