Job title: Administrative Specialist 3 (Civil Practice Division)

About the Role The New Jersey Judiciary seeks an Administrative Specialist 3 to coordinate Civil Practice Division's complementary dispute resolution activities, support mediator/arbitrator programs, and report to the Chief of Civil Court Programs. This role blends program coordination, policy development, training, and strong customer service with technical proficiency to benefit the public and the court system.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee the Civil Mediation and Arbitrator Access Databases to review, approve or reject new mediator applications, remove mediators/arbitrators who have not completed ongoing training requirements, and advise vicinage managers, supervisors, and staff on issues related to mediators and arbitrators
  • Prepare and analyze statistical reports
  • Coordinate and present at arbitrator trainings
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures
  • Provide quality customer service, including communicating Court Rules and Judiciary policies and procedures to mediators, attorneys, judges, litigants, vicinage staff, organizations and the public
  • Coordinate and serve as a trainer for new and existing Civil education programs and perform other duties as assigned to accommodate the Civil Practice Division’s workload and organizational needs
  • Maintain the rosters of Special Civil Part Officers and facilitate credentialing for these officers

NOTE: Civil Practice experience, including complementary dispute resolution, and experience in conducting trainings is preferred for this position.

What We're Looking For

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree and three years of professional experience, including program development, program coordination, program analysis, program administration and/or administrative research
  • Substitution options: associate degree with two years of additional paraprofessional/professional experience; master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience; law degree may substitute for two years of experience
  • Degrees from outside the United States must be evaluated by a recognized evaluation service
  • Driver's license valid in New Jersey if vehicle operation is necessary
  • US citizenship not required; must be authorized to work in the US
  • Successful candidate must undergo a thorough background check including fingerprinting
  • Residency requirement: within one year, establish and maintain principal residence in New Jersey

Nice to Have

  • Civil Practice experience including complementary dispute resolution and experience in conducting trainings is preferred

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $61,749.69 to $100,154.67 and $61,749.69 to $95,146.95; starting salary typically at the minimum of the range
