About the Role The School of Health Sciences at the University of the Pacific invites applicants for adjunct or part-time clinical instructors in the Entry Level Master of Science in Nursing Program (ELMSN). Clinical Instructors will oversee a cohort of students in approved clinical agencies to meet Board of Registered Nursing-mandated content areas: Pediatrics, Med-Surg/Gero, Obstetrics/Women’s Health, Mental Health, and Public Health Nursing. Clinical sites include Sacramento and Stockton, CA. Clinical days vary in length. The accelerated trimester program is delivered over two years. The ELMSN program prepares graduates for RN licensure, Public Health Nurse Certificate, and MSN degree. Teaching is the primary focus and the program emphasizes humanistic student learning and competent, self-directed practice. The role of clinical instructional faculty in ELMSN is to provide instruction as assigned in areas of knowledge and expertise, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to deliver a forward-thinking curriculum aligned with AACN Master’s Essentials (2021). Graduates are expected to serve as practice leaders and agents of change to improve healthcare outcomes. This position reports to the Faculty of Record and the ELMSN Assistant Director.

What You'll Do

  • Complete UOP clinical orientation and agency orientation, including policies.
  • Review syllabi, clinical/course objectives, expectations, policies, and evaluation criteria for assessing student competencies.
  • Monitor student performance and provide timely feedback to meet learning objectives.
  • Supervise and organize the student’s clinical experience to facilitate learning objectives.
  • Complete mid-rotation and end-of-rotation evaluations of student competencies and email results to the faculty of record.
  • Engage with agency nursing personnel as a university representative to facilitate professional relationships.
  • Assist students in developing critical thinking skills.
  • Mentor students to incorporate evidence-based practice into nursing care.
  • Provide timely constructive feedback, serve as a mentor, and conduct post-conferences for debriefing and learning opportunities.
  • Collaborate with ELMSN colleagues to contribute to a collaborative, student-centered learning environment.

What We're Looking For

  • BSN required.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in nursing and promise of teaching success and scholarly achievement (e.g., MSN; DNP, PhD, EdD).
  • Experience with Canvas EMS (LMS).
