About the Role Nelson University seeks qualified adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate science courses within the College of Health Sciences in Waxahachie, TX. This role supports the university's mission by delivering science instruction in a Christ-centered environment and integrating faith perspectives with academic study. Courses may include biology, anatomy, chemistry, or health sciences, with schedules that can include day, evening, or Saturday sessions.

What You'll Do

  • Teach assigned undergraduate science courses in accordance with approved syllabi and course learning outcomes.
  • Prepare lectures, laboratories, demonstrations, and learning activities that promote student understanding and application of scientific concepts.
  • Design and administer assessments to measure student learning and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Submit grades and maintain accurate records in line with university policies and deadlines.
  • Align with the institutional model, initiate textbook selection, oversee quality educational experiences, evaluate student performance via the LMS, and submit final grades according to posted schedules.
  • Provide 30 minutes of weekly student consultation per course.
  • Wear professional attire and begin/end each class on time.
  • Engage in instructional and spiritual formation activities in line with University policies.
  • Communicate with Department Chairs on a regular basis.
  • Participate in department meetings; attendance at faculty in-service and commencement is encouraged but not required.

What We're Looking For

  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physiology, Medical Sciences, or related science field; doctoral degree preferred.
  • At least 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in general biology, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics, microbiology, or health sciences.
  • Professional experience in scientific or healthcare fields encouraged.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage students in both lecture and laboratory settings.
  • Spirit-empowered, mature Christian faith; commitment to Nelson University and Assemblies of God doctrine; ability to integrate faith and learning.
  • Academic qualifications commensurate with accreditation criteria; established teaching abilities and knowledge of subject area.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with colleagues, staff, administration, and students; adaptable to change and innovation.
  • Documented professional experience; experience teaching online formats preferred.
  • Ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds; commitment to collaboration and program development.

  • Personal faith consistent with Nelson University's evangelical mission; active participation in a local church; Assemblies of God affiliation preferred.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Compensation is determined according to established pay scales and is based on credentials and teaching assignments.
