About the Role McGeorge School of Law invites applications for one adjunct professor position to develop a new online course on State and Federal Taxation, to be taught in the 2026–2027 academic year. This 3-unit course will be fully online and asynchronous, and will primarily be offered as part of the Master of Science in Law, Business Law concentration. The faculty member will select the text and develop the substantive curriculum consistent with McGeorge standards, coordinating with McGeorge Online Graduate Programs; an Instructional Designer (ID) will assist with course development and technical issues.
What You'll Do
- Develop and teach a 3-unit online, asynchronous State and Federal Taxation course for the 2026–2027 academic year.
- Select the course text and develop substantive curriculum aligned with McGeorge standards.
- Ensure high-quality faculty-student interaction via asynchronous discussions, feedback, messaging, and remote office hours.
- Coordinate with McGeorge Online Graduate Programs and program partners; work with an Instructional Designer to manage course development and technical issues.
- Follow a strict development timeline with mandatory deadlines; ensure content and delivery comply with University policies.
- Be willing to record media (video, narrated slides, podcasts) as needed.
- Contribute to a diverse and inclusive learning environment by integrating culturally responsive practices.
What We're Looking For
- Ability to translate substantive law and policy content into effective learning outcomes, lectures, and hands-on tasks.
- Ability to quickly learn software such as Canvas and Zoom; basic computer navigation.
- Strong ability to meet deadlines and coordinate with a team.
- Relevant experience such as teaching or legal practice is strongly preferred but not required.
- Experience with online course development or online teaching is preferred but not required.
- Sensitivity and commitment to working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures; demonstrated experience advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting; ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices.

Compensation & Benefits
- Hiring Range: $2,750 per unit for course development/teaching.
- The position is a part-time, non-tenure-track adjunct role for the 2026–2027 academic year, delivering a fully online, asynchronous course.
- Location is remote; affiliation with University of the Pacific and McGeorge School of Law.
