Job title: Adjunct Professor of Chemistry Lab - Metro Campus Fall 2026
About the Role The Gregory H. Olsen College of Engineering and Science at Fairleigh Dickinson University, Metro Campus, seeks an adjunct professor to teach laboratory courses in general chemistry and/or health sciences. The lab instructor will guide students through weekly in-person laboratory experiments, evaluate notebooks and laboratory reports, and maintain a safe laboratory environment by ensuring proper chemical handling, PPE use, and waste management.
What You'll Do
- Teach general chemistry and/or health sciences laboratory sections at the Metro Campus.
- Guide students through weekly, pre-designed in-person laboratory experiments.
- Evaluate student notebooks and laboratory reports.
- Maintain and supervise a safe laboratory environment, ensuring proper chemical handling, PPE use, and waste disposal.
- Assist with safety compliance and routine equipment/glassware maintenance.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree or higher in chemistry or a closely related field.
- Teaching experience strongly preferred; candidates with industrial experience are welcome.
- Ability to manage a laboratory setting and enforce safety standards.
- Strong communication and mentoring skills.
- Background check required; candidate must be able to produce a Social Security Card.
Nice to Have
- Industrial or related field experience in chemistry.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $900-$1,000 per contact hour.
