Job title: Adjunct Professor - Church Leadership
About the Role Nelson American Indian College (Phoenix, AZ), affiliated with Nelson University, seeks an Adjunct Professor in Church Leadership to teach courses and provide spiritual and academic mentorship. This part-time role supports the institution's evangelical mission and adheres to Assemblies of God doctrine and university policies. The instructor will develop and deliver coursework, assess students, and contribute to a Christ-centered curriculum.
What You'll Do
- Teach courses as assigned by the Dean; courses may be scheduled during day or night hours, or Saturdays
- Prepare syllabi in accordance with the institutional model, initiate textbook selection in a timely fashion, oversee quality educational experiences for students, produce evaluations and scores of student performance via the learning management system, and submit final grades per the posted schedule
- Provide 30 minutes of availability per week per course for student consultations
- Familiarize yourself with the University's Institutional Policy Manual and adhere to university policies
- Wear professional attire during class and begin/end each class on time
- Carry out instructional and spiritual formation activities with students and staff in accord with University policies and practices
- Optional: attend department meetings and, if invited, Faculty In-Service meetings or commencement ceremonies
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree from a regionally accredited university in church leadership or a church leadership-related field, or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 hours in church leadership
- Academic qualifications commensurate with accreditation criteria
- Established teaching abilities, strong written and verbal communication skills, and knowledge of the subject area
- Ability to work harmoniously with faculty, staff, administration, and students; adaptability to change and innovation
- Ability to effectively communicate across diverse populations in verbal and written expression
- Faith commitment: personal faith consistent with Nelson University’s evangelical Christian mission; active participation in a local church community; Assemblies of God affiliation preferred
- Supervision/Reporting: Faculty members report to the Department Chair, College Dean, any local Administrative Dean when serving at an Extension Site, and the Vice President for Academics
