Job title: Adjunct Pool - Spanish Instructor
About the Role The Department of World Languages and Cultures at North Central College invites applications for an adjunct, non-tenure track position in Spanish. This posting is an ongoing pool to develop qualified candidates; adjunct faculty are appointed on a course-by-course basis. You may be contacted to discuss teaching opportunities as program needs vary by semester.
What You'll Do
- Deliver communicative instruction following the provided syllabus and textbook for elementary and intermediate Spanish courses.
- Assess students’ work and provide detailed feedback to improve oral and written Spanish communication.
- Report midterm and final grades to the Registrar within college due dates and platforms.
- Communicate regularly and timely with the Elementary Spanish Coordinator and the World Languages and Cultures Chair about the general development of the courses and/or any issues that may arise.
What We're Looking For
- A Masters or Ph.D. degree in Spanish, Linguistics, Literature or related fields.
- High-advanced, native-like, or native fluency in Spanish at the oral and written levels.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring of students, and ongoing scholarship.
Nice to Have
- Experience with teaching Spanish, Linguistics or Literature.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication skills, teaching, and research.
Compensation & Benefits
- Budgeted salary range for this position is $3,840 to $4,380 per 4-credit hour course. This is a per-course adjunct position.
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of the College’s background screening process.
