About the Role The Department of Communication and Media Studies at North Central College invites applicants to join an ongoing adjunct pool to teach courses, with a primary need in Introduction to Public Speaking. These are part-time, per-course teaching opportunities intended to support the department’s curriculum and general education requirements. What You'll Do
- Teach courses as scheduled on campus, with regular weekly office hours.
- Assess and provide constructive feedback on student work to develop content knowledge, critical thinking, research abilities, and oral and written communication skills.
- Maintain current course Canvas sites and mentor first-year undergraduate students as they acclimate to the College.
- Participate in College workshops and professional development opportunities related to teaching the first-year curriculum and public speaking. What We're Looking For
- A master’s degree in Communication (required).
- Previous college-level teaching experience preferred.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, student mentorship, and collaborative engagement within the department.
- Ability to teach Introduction to Public Speaking and potentially other courses in the department’s curriculum. Nice to Have
- Experience teaching first-year students and mentoring undergraduates.
- Familiarity with Canvas LMS and current teaching technologies. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: USD 1,880 - 4,320 per course.
- Part-time, per-course appointments with assignments varying by semester based on departmental needs, funding, and enrollment.
