Job title: Adjunct Instructor - SSLC 4th Hour
About the Role Part-time adjunct instructor for a 1-credit integrating seminar in the Sophomore Service-Learning Community. The instructor ensures students’ reflection is continuous, connected and relevant to the issues in the common syllabus and their work in the community. The instructor guides or supports teaching assistants to direct or deepen discussions toward the required readings or the target issue, and the seminar models the reflective conversations we hope students will carry forward in their own time.
What You'll Do
- Prepare each class with student facilitators prior to the seminar.
- Create presentations and lectures based on set curriculum topics.
- Read and grade weekly essays.
- Attend special events when possible (one each semester).
- Attend one to two instructor meetings.
What We're Looking For
- Experience facilitating seminars or leading group discussions and the ability to guide conversations toward readings and the target issue.
- Ability to prepare class materials, presentations, and lectures based on set curriculum topics.
- Strong writing and coursework assessment skills, including reading and grading weekly essays.
- Flexibility to attend special events and instructor meetings.
