Job title: Adjunct Instructor Pool - Academic Success Experience (Internal only)
About the Role
Designs and delivers instruction in the Academic Success Experience (ASE) program. Participates in department, school, and university-wide tasks and activities. This position supports current full-time Texas Wesleyan University employees and contributes to student success within ASE.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and present lessons based on department rubrics for assignments while following the department syllabus for the designated course.
- Adhere to the faculty handbook and faculty guide.
- Manage classroom behavior and address student needs as required.
- Provide meeting times for students, adhere to the established class schedule, and hold required office hours.
- Maintain positive relationships with students and other ASE faculty.
- Submit contracts, book requests (if needed), syllabi, grades, evaluations, and other required paperwork and reports by due date.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Freshman Success.
What We're Looking For
- Education: Master’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree required with appropriate justification if no Master’s.
- Experience: Prior college/university teaching experience preferred; experience working with a diverse student body.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Time management and organizational strategies; college-level textbook-reading and note-taking strategies; knowledge of college campus resources; familiarity with different learning styles; knowledge of test-taking approaches and preparation strategies; ability to work effectively with University personnel; ability to provide service to both the University and the community; ability to comply with FERPA laws and student records; ability to adhere to university and departmental policies and procedures; ability to handle confidential and sensitive matters with discretion.
