Job title: Adjunct Instructor of Organic Chemistry
About the Role The Department of Chemistry and Physics at North Central College invites applications for an adjunct (per-course) faculty position to teach organic chemistry laboratory sections for the spring semester. This is a part-time, non-tenure track appointment with per-course compensation. The schedule includes four lab sections: Tue 08:00am–11:00am (1/6/26–4/28/26); Tue 01:45pm–04:45pm (1/6/26–4/28/26); Wed 01:45pm–04:45pm (1/7/26–4/29/26); and Thu 08:00am–11:00am (1/8/26–4/30/26). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
What You'll Do
- Teach organic chemistry laboratory sections for spring 2026 as listed above.
- Develop and deliver lab materials, evaluate student performance, and provide timely feedback.
- Ensure safety in the laboratory and adherence to department and college policies.
- Coordinate with the Department Chair and Chemistry/Physics/Bio division as needed to meet course outcomes.
- Maintain professional, high-quality instruction with a focus on teaching excellence.
What We're Looking For
- Ph.D. in chemistry or an associated field is preferred; candidates with a master’s degree and college-level teaching experience may also be considered.
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence and ability to teach laboratory courses in organic chemistry.
- Availability to teach the specified lab schedule for spring semester 2026.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- Budgeted salary range: $2,640–$2,860 for the position; pay determined by experience and qualifications. This is an adjunct per-course, part-time appointment.
