Job title: Adjunct Instructor of Mathematics
About the Role Ohio Northern University seeks a part-time adjunct instructor of mathematics to teach undergraduate mathematics courses as the instructor of record. The role focuses on delivering high-quality instruction and mentoring students inside and outside the classroom. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue to fill positions as needed each semester.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the instructor of record for introductory Mathematics courses (e.g., College Algebra, Pre-Calculus and single-variable Calculus) or other courses as assigned.
- Typically teach one or two courses per semester based on student demand.
- Mentor students inside and outside the classroom and collaborate with department faculty.
- Communicate with the Department Chair as needed.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree in Mathematics or 18 hours graduate coursework in Mathematics (doctorate in Mathematics encouraged).
- Experience teaching undergraduate, introductory Mathematics courses.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to mentor students.
- Ability to teach introductory Mathematics courses and adapt to student needs.
Nice to Have
- Doctorate in Mathematics and experience teaching Mathematics at the university level are encouraged to apply.
Compensation & Benefits
- Eligible for voluntary employee contributions into the TIAA 403(b), up to specified federal limits.
- Appointment Length: 9-month appointment.
- Part-time faculty status.
