About this role

About the Role Lamar Institute of Technology seeks an adjunct instructor to teach courses assigned for students enrolled in dual credit programs. The position may require teaching onsite at a local Independent School District or via online instruction. What You'll Do

  • Teach courses as scheduled and actively engage students in the learning process
  • Maintain one office hour per week per course
  • Attend adjunct faculty meetings
  • Assess courses at departmental and institutional levels
  • Complete required training such as Blackboard Certification and Title IX Training
  • Must have reliable transportation for travel to assigned instructional sites
  • Utilize LIT’s Teaching and Learning Center TLC to continuously hone and improve professional knowledge and teaching skills
  • Maintain knowledge of and adherence to the policies and procedures contained in the TSUS and LIT Policies and Procedures Manual
  • Maintain ethical and professional behavior
  • Other duties as assigned What We're Looking For
  • Appropriate degree as required by program instructor qualifications
  • Some programs require a master degree, while others require an associate degree and/or industry certification or license
  • Experience requirements vary by discipline being taught
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Awareness of national issues and trends in education
  • Ability to use computers for email, Word documents and basic spreadsheets Nice to Have
  • Experience teaching in higher education
  • Experience with Banner, Blackboard, Starfish, etc.
  • Supplemental certifications or licenses as applicable Compensation & Benefits
