Job title: Adjunct Instructor, Graduate Programs in Nursing Practice
About the Role The Adjunct Family Nurse Practitioner Program faculty member develops and teaches online graduate nursing courses in the Graduate Programs in Nursing Practice, and may supervise clinical practicum as appropriate. The role supports the Program Director, aligns with accreditation requirements, and encourages evidence-based, integrative approaches and self-care for students.
What You'll Do
- Develops, implements, maintains, and evaluates Graduate Nursing courses as assigned.
- Prepares learning experiences and delivers instruction for online graduate level nursing courses.
- Develops clinical practicum partnerships and supervises students in clinical practicum experiences (as appropriate within workload assignment).
- Adheres to the established class schedule and office hours requirements.
- Submits contracts, book requests, syllabi, grades, evaluations, and other required paperwork in a timely manner.
What We're Looking For
- Earned doctorate in nursing (doctoral candidates who will complete degree within 12 months of hire are eligible to apply); certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (or related area as accepted by accrediting body); and unencumbered license (or eligible for approval) as an advanced practice nurse in Texas are required.
- Experience as a faculty member in a nursing higher education program is required; experience in a graduate nursing program and online education preferred.
- Experience as a practicing advanced practice nurse is required; ongoing certification during employment is required.
- Knowledge of Family Nurse Practitioner practice models, national standards, professional issues and their application; effective pedagogical approaches; online educational approaches; familiarity with FERPA and HIPAA and related policies.
- Skills to develop new Graduate Nursing courses with innovative approaches that value relationship-centered and whole-person care; ability to work with an inter-professional team; ability to model professional practice; ability to work with a diverse community; strong service orientation to the University and community.
