Job title: Adjunct Instructor, Graduate Nursing
About the Role North Central College's Department of Nursing seeks adjunct instructors to teach one or two graduate nursing courses per semester. These are course-by-course appointments intended to build a qualified pool; opportunities depend on programmatic needs. Instructors deliver content aligned with learning outcomes, evaluate student work, and provide office hours and support for student success.
What You'll Do
- Enact best-practices in nursing education.
- Model critical and reflective thinking; foster cognitive, psychomotor, and affective development of learners.
- Be available for office hours to support student success.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to learners.
- Demonstrate professional and educational values and ethical precepts; adhere to FERPA.
- Exhibit a spirit of inquiry about teaching and learning, student development, evaluation methods, and other aspects of the role.
- Use current research findings and scholarly works in nursing to improve nursing education and practice.
- Maintain clinical certification, licensure.
What We're Looking For
- MSN or MS in Nursing degree from an accredited institution is required.
- A terminal degree (PhD, EdD, DNP) is preferred.
- Active Illinois RN license.
- Certified FNP or PMHNP for NP-specific courses.
- Certified Nurse Educator preferred.
- Prior teaching experience in graduate nursing education.
- Experience with technology/course management systems (e.g., CANVAS).
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal).
- Background check and official transcripts required prior to employment.
Nice to Have
- Terminal degree (PhD, EdD, DNP) preferred.
- Certified Nurse Educator preferred.
- Experience with Canvas or other LMS platforms.
