About the Role Roosevelt University is seeking a part-time Adjunct Instructor to teach CST 250 – Computer Science II on the Chicago Campus. The course builds on CST 150 with topics including problem solving in a high-level language, abstract data types, inheritance, recursion, generics, lists, maps, stacks, queues, trees, and file I/O, as well as multiple sorting and searching algorithms and an introduction to program complexity. This position requires face-to-face instruction; the successful candidate must be on campus for scheduled classes. What You'll Do
- Teach CST 250 – Computer Science II in person on the Chicago Campus, Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:00 PM – 4:05 PM.
- Develop and deliver course materials, assignments, labs, and assessments; evaluate student work and provide timely feedback.
- Mentor students through debugging and problem-solving in a lab/lecture setting; support student learning outcomes.
- Maintain accurate grade records and communicate with students and department as needed. What We're Looking For
- Proficiency in Java programming and object-oriented design principles (abstraction, inheritance, encapsulation, polymorphism).
- Strong understanding of data structures (lists, sets, maps, stacks, queues, trees) and their implementations.
- Experience with recursion, generics, and file I/O in Java; knowledge of sorting and searching algorithms and Big-O analysis.
- Ability to teach programming concepts effectively to undergraduate students in a face-to-face setting; strong communication skills and mentoring ability. Nice to Have
- Prior teaching or TA experience in computer science preferred. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary for this 4 credit hour class is $5,309.33.
