About the Role
The College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) at Washington State University Tri-Cities is building an applicant pool of adjunct faculty to teach in-person courses for the 2026-2027 academic year. Open to disciplines within the Physical Sciences such as Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Mathematics (including Math Education), Statistics, Physics and/or Astronomy. Adjunct positions are fixed-term and carry no guarantee of continued employment beyond the course assignment; most teaching will be during Fall and Spring semesters in person.
What You'll Do
- Teach in-person courses in assigned Physical Science disciplines at WSU Tri-Cities.
- Instruct courses that may include large enrollment lower-division sections, upper-division courses, and laboratory sessions.
- Employ student-centered pedagogy and a broad range of learning resources and technologies; adapt to a wide range of student backgrounds.
- Manage course responsibilities and meet instructional and general requirements of the assignment.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s Degree in a relevant field.
- Demonstrated experience or potential for student-centered pedagogy; effective communication (written and verbal).
- Flexibility to achieve instructional responsibilities and use a variety of teaching strategies.
- Minimum of one year of experience teaching college courses in relevant areas (preferred).
- Ability to adapt methods to diverse student backgrounds; alignment with WSU's land-grant mission.
Nice to Have
- Terminal Degree/Ph.D. in a relevant field.
- Ability to use new teaching approaches that advance pedagogy of the discipline.
- Demonstrated record of teaching excellence and success with diverse student demographics.
- Additional teaching experience across a range of student demographics.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual salary range: $25,952.40 – $47,047.50 (100% FTE), pro-rated for course load.
