Job title: Adjunct Faculty - Music
About the Role
Nelson University in Waxahachie, TX invites applicants for an adjunct faculty opening in the Music Department. The role involves instruction to undergraduate students in Music Education, Music Performance, and Music Ministries programs, including possible group voice instruction. Faculty will teach courses, prepare syllabi, participate in curriculum alignment with Assemblies of God doctrine, and support student development.
What You'll Do
- Teach courses as assigned by the Dean; courses may be scheduled during day or night hours, or Saturdays
- Prepare syllabi in accordance with the institutional model, initiate the process of textbook selection in a timely fashion, oversee quality educational experiences for students, produce evaluations and scores of student performance via the learning management system, and submit final grades per the posted schedule
- Provide 30 minutes of availability per week per course for student consultations
- Familiarize yourself with the University's Institutional Policy Manual and policies
- Wear professional attire during class and begin and end each class on time
- Carry out instructional and spiritual formation activities with students and staff in accord with University policies and practices
- All part-time faculty are invited to attend department meetings
- Attend Faculty In-Service meetings and commencement ceremonies is encouraged but not required
- Connect and communicate with Department Chairs on a regular basis
What We're Looking For
- At least a Master's degree in Music
- Established career as a professional solo singer of classical repertoire
- Strong record of success as a vocal teacher
- Proficient in Italian, German, and French diction
- Knowledge of vocal literature and vocal pedagogy; proficient piano skills
- Academic qualifications commensurate with accreditation criteria
- Established teaching abilities, strong written and verbal communication skills, and knowledge of subject area
- Ability to work harmoniously with faculty, staff, administration, and students
- Adaptability to change and innovation
- Documented professional experience; ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds
- Commitment to collaboration and program development
- Faith commitment: personal faith consistent with Nelson University's evangelical Christian mission; active participation in a local church; Assemblies of God affiliation preferred
