Job title: Adjunct Faculty, Medical Laboratory Science
About the Role
Adjunct faculty at Stevenson University will engage in teaching activities in accordance with the University’s faculty workload policies. Teaching responsibilities will include delivering courses in the Medical Laboratory Science Program within the Beverly K. Fine School of the Sciences, contributing to student learning across classroom, laboratory, and online formats.
What You'll Do
- Engage in instructional activities totaling no more than 18 contact hours per academic year (August through May), with no more than 9 contact hours taught in a single semester.
- Teach courses in the Medical Laboratory Science Program in various modalities (classroom, laboratory, hybrid, or online).
- Prepare teaching materials, confer with students, direct individual and group studies, review examinations and papers, evaluate projects, and provide academic accommodations as needed.
- Develop and maintain course syllabi; manage timely grading, attendance verification, and other academic reporting; respond to student feedback and communicate with university personnel as required.
- Stay current in subject matter, pursue professional development, and ensure compliance with university policies on academic freedom, collegiality, and inclusivity.
- Travel between campuses as needed and be available to teach day, evening, online, or hybrid classes as schedule requires.
What We're Looking For
- Education and experience: Master’s degree and ASCP certification in Medical Laboratory Science, or Bachelor’s degree with ASCP certification plus teaching experience; Master’s degree with ASCP certification or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of instrumentation in medical laboratory content areas; demonstrated teaching ability; ability to teach students of varying preparation and abilities; excellent interpersonal and cultural competency skills; ability to communicate professionally with diverse constituencies; commitment to inclusive pedagogy and student achievement; proficiency with Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with an LMS (e.g., Blackboard); strong organizational, reasoning, and problem-solving skills; ability to manage time and meet deadlines; ability to travel between campuses; ability to work evenings and weekends as needed; ability to work with colleagues and diverse backgrounds.
