About the Role Adjunct Faculty – Graduate School of Theology is a part-time teaching role focused on providing high-quality instruction and student support within ACU's Graduate School of Theology. The position involves classroom teaching, office hours, curriculum development input, and collaboration with program faculty to support program and course goals, all while upholding ACU's Christian mission.
What You'll Do
- Provide high-quality instruction, direction and support for students in the classroom environment, facilitating a range of class sizes up to 25 students and potentially dividing the class into sections for discussion and group activities.
- Provide rich and timely feedback on student work, being both encouraging and constructively critical.
- Hold a minimum of two office hours per week, and be available by appointment for in-person or virtual meetings with students individually or in groups.
- Provide timely and helpful answers to students’ inquiries outside of class time, regarding course material or academic matters.
- Enter final course grades by deadline.
- Alert department chair and/or program director to any student issues (performance issues, policy violations such as plagiarism).
- Comply with all pertinent policies and procedures outlined in Abilene Christian University’s Handbook, Faculty Guidelines, and those specified by ACU’s College of Biblical Studies.
- Provide feedback to designated point of contact for program and/or course improvement.
- Attend/complete program and faculty trainings and provide credentialing/records updates as required.

- Personal: Strong communication skills, both written and oral; Ability to view and manage role and responsibilities in relation to the university's larger mission; Collaborative nature with the ability to build consensus; Outstanding organizational and project management skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines; Self-motivated and capable of solving problems, asking for input and initiating solutions as appropriate; Capacity to learn new software applications and learning management systems; Willingness to receive additional training and/or faculty mentoring; Ability to demonstrate good judgment when interacting with students, other faculty and staff.
