Job title: Adjunct Faculty, Graduate Nursing

About the Role Adjunct faculty at Stevenson University will engage in teaching activities in accordance with the University’s faculty workload policies. Teaching responsibilities will include teaching courses in the Graduate Nursing Program.

What You'll Do

  • Teach courses in the Graduate Nursing Program in classroom, laboratory, online, or hybrid formats, adhering to workload policies and no more than 18 instructional hours per academic year.
  • Maintain subject matter competence; prepare teaching materials; confer with students on course materials; direct individual and group studies; review examinations and papers; evaluate presentations and projects; provide academic accommodations for students with documented disabilities.
  • Prepare syllabi; respond to emails promptly; grade coursework within deadlines to incorporate feedback; submit mid-term and final grades on time; verify attendance; issue academic alerts and reports as requested; report student problems promptly.
  • Respond to student feedback; participate in required training or professional development; uphold collegiality and professional/ethical conduct; follow all faculty and program policies; maintain academic freedom.
  • Manage teaching assignments (day, evening, online or hybrid), and meet classes for the full scheduled time.

What We're Looking For

  • Doctoral degree in nursing or related field with a current registered nursing license; two years of college-level teaching experience or equivalent; online teaching experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of curriculum development; educational theory, strategies, and evaluation; and/or advanced pharmacology, pathophysiology, and physical assessment.
  • Demonstrated teaching ability in Nursing Education, Nursing Leadership/Management, Population Health Nursing, or Forensic Nursing.
  • Ability to teach students with varying preparation levels; strong interpersonal and cultural competency; commitment to inclusive learning experiences and student achievement.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with Blackboard or similar LMS; strong organizational, reasoning, problem-solving, and time-management skills; ability to travel between campuses; capacity to work evenings and weekends.

Nice to Have

  • Experience teaching online is preferred.

  • Anticipated compensation of $1,484 per credit/contact hour (depending upon enrollment).
