About this role

About the Role Abilene Christian University is seeking an Adjunct Faculty - Ethics (Remote/Asynchronous) to provide high-quality instruction in an online undergraduate pre-nursing certificate ethics course. This part-time role supports the university's Christian mission and involves collaboration with program faculty to plan and implement the curriculum in a remote learning environment.

What You'll Do

  • Provide high-quality instruction, direction and support for students in the online classroom environment.
  • Provide rich and timely feedback; facilitate classes up to ~30 students; place students in groups; answer inquiries; conduct periodic synchronous sessions; grade and return assignments promptly; enter final grades after consultation with the Program Director; alert the Program Director to student issues; comply with university policies; perform other duties as assigned.
  • Participate with program faculty in planning, development, and implementation of the program and curriculum.
  • Provide feedback to Program Director for program/course improvement; participate in program and faculty meetings; attend/gain required trainings; maintain credentialing/records; stay current with field trends through practice and continuing education.

What We're Looking For

  • A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Philosophy, Ethics, Theology, Religious Studies, or related field with at least 18 graduate hours clearly relevant to ethics or moral philosophy.
  • Past or current full-time experience in the Bible, Ministry, nursing, or ethics; online teaching experience in higher education (3+ years) preferred.
  • Computer literacy; proficiency in APA style.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to align with the University’s mission; collaborative mindset; outstanding organizational and project management abilities; self-motivated with problem-solving skills; quick learner of software; willingness to receive additional training or mentoring; good judgment in interactions with students and staff.
  • Training modules required: Microsoft and G-Suite applications; Canvas.
