Job title: Adjunct Faculty, English
About the Role Adjunct Faculty in the English Department at Stevenson University will engage in teaching activities in accordance with the University’s faculty workload policies. Teaching responsibilities will include teaching courses in English and supporting student learning outcomes. This posting is for applicants interested in being included in the applicant pool; there is no guarantee of an open position at this time, and hires will be made as needed.
What You'll Do
- Engage in instructional activity totaling no more than 18 contact hours per academic year (August through May), with no more than 9 contact hours taught in an individual semester.
- Teach courses in English (e.g., College Writing I, College Writing II, Introduction to Creative Writing) and develop/maintain syllabus and course materials.
- Confer with students, direct individual and group studies, review examinations and papers, evaluate presentations and projects, and provide academic accommodations when documented.
- Prepare teaching materials, maintain competence in subjects taught, grade coursework, and complete timely submission of mid-term and final grades, attendance verification, and other required reports.
- Complete training or professional development as required by the University; uphold collegiality and professional/ethical conduct; teaching assignments may include day, evening, online or hybrid formats, and require meeting scheduled class times.
What We're Looking For
- Education/Experience: Master’s degree in English with at least one year of college-level teaching experience or equivalent.
- Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of teaching composition and writing; ability to teach diverse learners; proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Blackboard or another LMS; ability to travel between campuses; ability to work evenings and weekends; strong organizational, reasoning, and problem-solving skills; excellent written and oral communication; ability to manage time and work with colleagues.

Nice to Have
