About the Role Stevenson University seeks adjunct faculty in Education to teach courses in the Early Childhood, Elementary, and Middle School programs within the School of Education. The role supports the university's teaching mission and requires a commitment to quality instruction aligned with the faculty workload policies.

What You'll Do

  • Engage in instructional activity totaling no more than 18 contact hours per academic year (August through May), with no more than 9 contact hours in a single semester. Teaching responsibilities include classroom time, preparation, and maintaining competence in subjects being taught.
  • Prepare teaching materials, meet with students outside of class, direct individual and group studies, review examinations and papers, evaluate presentations and projects, and provide academic accommodations for students with documented disabilities.
  • Write syllabi, respond to emails promptly, grade coursework within deadlines to incorporate feedback, submit mid-term and final grades on time, attendance verification, academic alerts, and other reports as requested. Alert appropriate university personnel to student problems in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with full-time or part-time faculty on course content, activities, and alignment; provide documentation for accreditation; complete required training or professional development; and uphold collegial and ethical conduct in line with university policies.
  • Teach day or evening classes as assigned and meet classes for the full scheduled time.

What We're Looking For

  • Master’s degree in Education or related field with a current teaching license; strong commitment to quality teaching; willingness to teach at the college level. MS, MS Ed, PhD, or EdD preferred.
  • Knowledge of educational theories and pedagogy; demonstrated ability to teach in early childhood and elementary settings; ability to instruct students with diverse academic strengths and challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with diverse constituencies; commitment to inclusive pedagogy and student achievement; ability to provide meaningful feedback to students.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook); familiarity with current educational assessment practices; experience with Blackboard or other learning management systems; well-developed organizational, reasoning and problem solving skills; ability to travel between campuses; ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Nice to Have

  • Teaching experience at the college level and a demonstrated student centered approach to teaching.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Anticipated salary range: 1,191 to 1,389 per credit or contact hour (USD), subject to minimums; position is part-time and within a bargaining unit; on campus employment at Owings Mills North.
