About the Role Nelson University seeks an adjunct faculty member in the Communication Arts Department to teach Distance Education. The role supports online/in-distance instruction in alignment with university doctrine and biblical integration across disciplines.

What You'll Do

• Adjunct faculty teach courses as assigned by the Dean. Courses may be scheduled during day or night hours, or Saturdays
• Prepare syllabi in accordance with the institutional model, initiate the process of textbook selection in a timely fashion, oversee quality educational experiences for students, produce evaluations and scores of student performance via the learning management system, and submit final grades per the posted schedule
• Provide 30 minutes of availability per week per course for student consultations
• Familiarize yourself with the University’s Institutional Policy Manual and comply with policies
• Wear professional attire and begin/end each class on time
• Conduct instructional and spiritual formation activities with students and staff per University policies
• Attend department meetings when invited; participate in in-service and commencement activities when possible
• Maintain regular communication with Department Chairs

What We're Looking For

• Master’s degree in communications or related field from a regionally accredited university (or Master’s with at least 18 hours in communications)
• Ability to effectively communicate across diverse populations in verbal and written form
• Academic qualifications commensurate with accreditation criteria
• Demonstrated teaching ability, strong written and verbal communication skills, and subject-area knowledge
• Ability to work harmoniously with faculty, staff, administration, and students
• Adaptability to change and innovation
• Documented professional experience; online teaching experience preferred
• Ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds
• Commitment to collaboration and program development
• Faith Commitment: personal faith consistent with Nelson University’s evangelical Christian mission; active participation in a local church; Assemblies of God affiliation preferred

• Experience teaching online format (preferred)

Compensation & Benefits

• Compensation is determined according to established pay scales and is based on credentials and teaching assignments. This position is exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
