About this role

About the Role The University of La Verne’s LaFetra College of Education invites applications for adjunct faculty to teach and support candidates across our Teacher Education pathways, including the B.A. in Elementary Education, the M.A. in Inclusive Education, and our Special Education (Education Specialist Mild/Moderate and Extensive Support Needs), Single Subject, and Multiple Subject credential programs. Adjuncts may teach Elementary Education courses at the undergraduate level and graduate/credential courses online or in hybrid formats, with emphasis on culturally responsive practice and preparing educators for PK–12 and K–12 contexts in diverse urban settings.

What You'll Do

  • Teach and support candidates across Teacher Education pathways (B.A. Elementary Education; M.A. Inclusive Education; Education Specialist; Single Subject; Multiple Subject) across on-campus and online/hybrid modalities as assigned.
  • Develop and deliver course content aligned with objectives, using inclusive methods and materials that meet course objectives while engaging candidates with varied experiences and learning styles.
  • Implement and assess learning outcomes, provide feedback and mentoring, and contribute to program quality and candidate success.
  • Indicate the SPECIFIC PROGRAM you are applying to teach when submitting materials and, if selected, teach courses within that program.

What We're Looking For

  • Elementary Education Qualifications:
  1. Master’s Degree in Education or related field
  2. Experience teaching (level dependent upon course)
  3. Experience working with diverse populations
  4. K-8 Multiple Subject credential (dependent on course)
  5. Single Subject Credential (dependent on course)
  6. Doctoral Degree (Preferred) in Education, Human Development or related field
  7. Preference given to those with demonstrated excellence in teaching, scholarship, and mentoring
  • Education Specialist – Mild/Moderate and/or Extensive Support Needs Qualifications:
  1. Master’s degree in Education
  2. Current Clear CA teaching credential (Mild/Moderate or Extensive Support Needs) with English Language Learner and Autism Authorizations
  3. Commitment to and experience working with diverse student populations, including English Language learners
  4. Minimum of 3 years of successful elementary or secondary teaching experience
  • Single Subject Teaching Credential – Subject Specific Pedagogy Qualifications:
  1. Master’s degree or higher with a current Clear California Single Subject
  2. Commitment to and experience working with diverse student populations including English Language learners
  3. A minimum of three years of successful secondary teaching experience
  4. Ability to work with adult learners
  5. Effective communication and organization skills
  • Multiple Subject Qualifications:
  1. Master’s degree in Education, Reading, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field
  2. A valid California Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential with an English Learner Authorization
  3. Experience working with diverse student populations

Nice to Have

  • Doctorate in Education, Special Education, or related field
  • Understanding of Disabilities or Inclusive Education Studies
  • Experience working in inclusive educational environments
  • Experience with assessments, data-driven instruction, and technology
