Job title: Adjunct Faculty, Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics (Online)

About the Role Stevenson University is seeking an adjunct faculty member to teach Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics courses in online programs. This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by SEIU, Local 500, and postings are to build an applicant pool. There is no guarantee of an active opening; should a position be available, the hiring manager will contact you directly.

What You'll Do

  • Engage in instructional activity totaling no more than 18 contact hours per academic year (Aug through May), with no more than 9 contact hours taught in an individual semester.
  • Teach online courses in the BS in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics or MS in Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics programs; prepare teaching materials; maintain subject-matter competence.
  • Confer with students, direct individual and group studies, review examinations and papers, evaluate presentations and projects, and provide academic accommodations for students with documented disabilities.
  • Write syllabi; read and respond to emails promptly; grade coursework within a timely timeframe; submit mid-term and final grades, attendance verification, academic alerts, and other reports as requested; alert appropriate university personnel to student problems.
  • Complete training or professional development as required by the University; adhere to policies and maintain academic freedom; collaborate collegially with faculty, staff, and students.
  • Teaching assignments may include day, evening, online or hybrid classes; reports to Information Systems Department Chair.

What We're Looking For

  • Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Information Assurance, or a related field; industry experience and a commitment to quality teaching.
  • Preferred: college-level teaching experience; cybersecurity or digital forensics professional certifications; doctorate degree in Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics, Information Assurance, or a related field.
  • Knowledge/Skills: industry knowledge and experience in cybersecurity, digital forensics, information assurance, or related fields; ability to develop and teach online courses; ability to instruct students of varying preparation and abilities; strong interpersonal and cultural competency skills; effective written and oral communication; ability to create inclusive learning experiences; familiarity with Blackboard or a similar LMS; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; good organizational, reasoning and problem-solving skills; ability to manage time and meet deadlines.

Nice to Have

  • Doctorate degree; additional teaching experience; professional certifications in cybersecurity or digital forensics.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Anticipated salary: $1,191-$1,484 per credit/contact hour (USD), depending on course level and enrollment; benefits information available at Stevenson University.
