Job title: Adjunct Faculty Business Law
About the Role Adjunct Faculty for Business Law serves under the direction of the Graduate Leadership and Business Programs Director. This part-time, one-semester appointment involves teaching 8-week online graduate courses and undergraduate online and/or onsite courses in Fort Wayne, IN, while supporting the Catholic and Franciscan mission and values of the University of Saint Francis.
What You'll Do
- Review the course prior to publication and suggest improvements.
- Regularly post announcements, respond to student and university communications in a timely manner.
- Actively engage with students via discussion forums, email and optional synchronous sessions.
- Grade assignments promptly and provide detailed feedback.
- Coordinate with the Graduate Leadership and Business Programs Director and adapt instruction to online and onsite formats.
- Contribute to curriculum assessment and uphold the university's policies and Catholic/Franciscan mission.
- Deliver instruction in online and/or onsite settings in Fort Wayne, IN, aligned with course and program objectives.
What We're Looking For
- Education: J.D., or PhD/DBA with a business law emphasis preferred; graduate degree, work experience or teaching experience in law, and the ability to teach ethics and law in an applied format.
- Experience: Prior post-secondary teaching experience preferred; five years’ professional experience within the discipline preferred.
- Knowledge & Skills: Competence in educational principles, instructional methods, evaluation techniques, and technology used in higher education; knowledge of the profession including theory and practice; strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to coordinate services and interact with diverse populations; willingness to work irregular hours including weekends and university breaks.
- Expertise in areas including U.S. legal and government systems, the role of law in business, contracts, agency, torts, IP, and various forms of business entities and dispute resolution.
- Commitment to supporting and actively contributing to the Catholic and Franciscan mission and values of the university.
- Ability to teach both online and onsite courses and to engage with students across formats.
Nice to Have
- Five years’ professional experience preferred.
- Prior post-secondary teaching experience preferred.
