Job title: Adjunct Faculty, Business Administration
About the Role Adjunct faculty at Stevenson University will engage in teaching activities in accordance with the University’s faculty workload policies. This posting is for those interested in being included in the applicant pool for this position. The position is part of the SEIU, Local 500 bargaining unit and terms of employment are governed by the collective bargaining agreement currently under negotiation. The role involves teaching face-to-face courses in the BS in Business Administration program offered by the School of Business & Leadership.
What You'll Do
- Engage in instructional activity totaling no more than 18 contact hours per academic year (Aug–May), with no more than 9 contact hours taught in an individual semester.
- Teach face-to-face courses in the BS in Business Administration program; prepare teaching materials and maintain competence in subjects being taught.
- Confer with students on course materials; direct individual and group studies; review exams and papers; evaluate presentations and projects; provide academic accommodations as needed.
- Create syllabi, respond to emails promptly, grade coursework within a timely feedback cycle, and submit mid-term/final grades and attendance as requested.
- Complete required training and professional development; uphold professional and ethical conduct; follow School and University policies.
- Demonstrate collegiality, integrity, and academic freedom; adapt teaching assignments to day/evening/online/hybrid formats; meet class times as scheduled.
- Travel between campuses as needed and work evenings and weekends if required.
What We're Looking For
- Education/Experience Required: Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related fields; industry experience and a strong commitment to quality teaching.
- Preferred: College-level teaching experience and a doctorate in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related fields.
- Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Industry knowledge in management/finance/economics; ability to teach in multiple business areas; inclusive pedagogy; strong communication and interpersonal skills; experience with Blackboard or a similar LMS; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; well-developed organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to work with diverse students and manage time effectively.
- Additional requirements: Ability to travel between campuses; capacity to work evenings/weekends as needed.
Nice to Have
- Doctorate degree in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related fields (preferred).
- Prior college-level teaching experience.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: Anticipated to be $1,191-$1,389 per credit/contact hour; pay is hourly.
