About the Role Washington Adventist University is seeking adjunct faculty to teach biology and related courses in the Department of Biology and Chemistry. This non-tenure, part-time position provides significant input in course design and may be renewed based on performance and need. The department will review applications periodically based on student enrollment.
What You'll Do
- Teach lectures and laboratories for majors and non-majors biology courses.
- Courses may include Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology, Environmental Science, College Biology, Genetics, Neuroscience, Mammalian or Animal Physiology.
- Develop course outlines and syllabi; select textbooks and teaching aids; design and implement instructional activities.
- Engage with students through notes, timely grades, and feedback via a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Supervise and maintain laboratories and equipment; ensure lab safety during sessions and clean-up.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s or Ph.D. in Biological Sciences or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Academic coursework in anatomy and/or physiology, microbiology, genetics, or environmental science preferred.
- Ability to integrate technology into course delivery; strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse student population; prior college or university laboratory teaching experience preferred.
- Knowledge of and alignment with WAU’s philosophy and mission.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $3120 per 4-credit course.
