Job title: Adjunct Faculty, Biology (Anatomy and Physiology)

About the Role Stevenson University seeks an Adjunct Faculty member in Biology (Anatomy and Physiology) to teach anatomy and physiology, with the possible addition of courses within the Department of Biological Sciences and the Fine School of the Sciences. This position is part of a bargaining unit represented by SEIU, Local 500, and the terms of employment are governed by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement. What You'll Do

  • Teach anatomy and physiology (and possibly additional courses) in classroom and laboratory settings, following the University’s workload policies.
  • Maintain competence, prepare teaching materials, and confer with students on course materials.
  • Direct individual and group studies; review examinations and papers; evaluate presentations and projects; provide academic accommodations for students with documented disabilities.
  • Write syllabi; respond promptly to emails; grade coursework within deadlines; submit mid-term and final grades, attendance verification, academic alerts, and other reports as requested; alert appropriate personnel to student problems.
  • Respond to student feedback and participate in required training or professional development; uphold collegiality and professional ethics; adhere to School and University policies; exercise academic freedom as outlined by Stevenson University.
  • May require teaching day or evening classes and meeting classes for full duration of scheduled times; travel between campuses if needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Education/Experience: Master’s degree or higher in biological or related science; doctoral degree strongly preferred; at least two years of college-level teaching experience or equivalent.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Knowledge of anatomy and physiology; demonstrated teaching ability; ability to instruct students of varying preparation and abilities; strong interpersonal and cultural competency; ability to create inclusive learning experiences; student-centered approach; ability to assess student performance; proficiency with Microsoft applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with Blackboard or similar LMS; excellent written and oral communication; strong organizational and problem-solving skills; ability to travel between campuses and work evenings/weekends as needed.

Nice to Have

  • Experience using Blackboard or other LMS platforms; inclusive pedagogy experience; willingness to participate in ongoing professional development.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range not disclosed in the posting. Compensation for adjunct teaching is typically through the University’s adjunct payroll (monthly); the position is variable in hours per week and per year depending on scheduled courses.
