Job title: Adjunct Faculty, Art (Interactive Design)
About the Role Adjunct faculty at Stevenson University will engage in teaching activities in accordance with the University’s faculty workload policies. Teaching responsibilities will include teaching courses in the Art and Graphic Design Department that may include web design and responsive interactive design. Some departmental opportunities may include service, scholarship, and involvement in off-campus, evening, or weekend duties.
What You'll Do
- Engage in instructional activity totaling no more than 18 contact hours per academic year, with no more than 9 contact hours taught in an individual semester.
- Teach in classrooms, laboratories, or hybrid/online courses; prepare teaching materials; confer with students; direct individual and group studies; review examinations and papers; evaluate presentations and projects; provide academic accommodations for students with documented disabilities.
- Write syllabi; respond to emails promptly; grade coursework within a timeframe; submit mid-term and final grades, attendance verification, academic alerts, and other reports; alert appropriate university personnel to student problems; complete training or professional development as required; uphold collegial and ethical standards.
What We're Looking For
- Master’s degree in interactive design, graphic design, or related discipline (Master of Fine Arts preferred); a strong commitment to quality teaching; two years of relevant college-level teaching experience or equivalent.
- A body of work and professional experiences demonstrating high interactive design capability; mastery of HTML, CSS, CMS editing, and Adobe Creative Suite; expert in graphic design, layout, color theory, and screen-based typography.
- Proficiency in interactive scripting and back-end website functions; knowledge of contemporary visual art and design culture and related theory; ability to develop course materials (syllabi, lessons, demonstrations, lectures, workshops).
- Ability to work collegially, foster inclusive pedagogy, assess student performance, and communicate effectively with diverse constituencies; proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Blackboard or LMS; strong organizational, reasoning, and problem-solving skills; excellent written and oral communication.
- Willingness to travel between campuses; ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
