About the Role WSU’s Center for Civics, Culture, and Workforce Development invites applications for its adjunct instructor pool. Adjunct instructors will begin teaching courses in the Fall 2026 semester. The Center is seeking adjuncts to teach CCD 1001 – American Civic Literacy, a course that fulfills the educational requirements established in The Advance Ohio Education Act (Senate Bill 1). The ideal candidate will bring a passion for civic education and a commitment to passing along America’s civic tradition to the next generation of university students. CCD 1001 explores the foundational principles, texts, and ideas that have shaped the American constitutional order and civic life. Through rigorous analysis of historical documents, students will gain a deeper understanding of the values of democracy.
What You'll Do
- Teach CCD 1001 – American Civic Literacy to undergraduate students starting Fall 2026 (adjunct pool, with courses potentially through Summer 2027).
- Lead analyses of historical documents and foundational texts to illuminate the American constitutional order and civic life.
- Foster student engagement with America's civic tradition and democratic principles.
What We're Looking For
- A demonstrated passion for civic education and a commitment to passing along America’s civic tradition to the next generation of university students.
- Ability to design, prepare, and deliver effective instruction for CCD 1001 and related coursework.
- Interest in civic literacy and the ability to guide students through primary sources and key documents.
