About the Role Robert Half is partnering with an excellent organization that's looking to add an AP/Payroll Specialist to their Finance team. This is a full-time, permanent role based in Ottawa with hybrid (2 days on site) work arrangement. The role involves managing the full invoice cycle, processing Canadian payroll, and supporting month-end close. What You'll Do
- Manage the full invoice cycle for PO and non-PO transactions, ensuring coding, verification, and timely entry are completed accurately.
- Prepare scheduled payment runs through cheques and electronic methods while monitoring upcoming obligations and communicating cash needs to leadership.
- Maintain vendor master records, resolve supplier questions, and reconcile account balances to keep payable records current and accurate.
- Process Canadian payroll using Ceridian PowerPay, ensuring employee pay is calculated correctly and issued within required timelines.
- Complete payroll-related remittances, reporting, and year-end filings, including statutory submissions, records of employment, taxable benefits, and other compliance documentation.
- Reconcile intercompany activity, bank accounts, general ledger balances, corporate credit cards, prepaid expenses, and other key accounts, posting journal entries where needed.
- Review employee expense claims and purchase requisitions for accuracy, policy compliance, and proper approval before processing.
- Maintain fixed asset records, update the subledger for new additions, and support month-end and year-end close activities across accounts payable and payroll functions.
- Must be able to work 1 Saturday during month end. What We're Looking For
- Post-secondary education in Accounting, Payroll or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in accounts payable, payroll, or closely related accounting position.
- Hands-on experience processing Canadian payroll and administering payroll remittances and statutory reporting requirements.
- Working with multi-currencies is a strong asset.
- Proficiency with Ceridian PowerPay and strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Strong data entry accuracy, organizational skills, and attention to detail when working with confidential financial information.
- Clear communication skills with the ability to respond professionally to vendors, employees, and internal stakeholders. Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: 65,000 - 75,000 CAD per year
