Accounts Payable Specialist

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Specialist to support day-to-day payment operations for a team based in Los Angeles, California. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who brings strong attention to detail, accuracy in invoice handling, and confidence working across high-volume accounts payable activities. The role focuses on maintaining timely payment processing, organized financial records, and dependable support for vendor transactions.

Responsibilities:

• Review incoming invoices, assign accurate general ledger coding, and prepare items for processing in accordance with company procedures.

• Manage accounts payable workflows by verifying documentation, resolving discrepancies, and ensuring payment requests are complete and approved.

• Process vendor payments through ACH transactions and check runs while maintaining accuracy and meeting scheduled deadlines.

• Reconcile payable records against supporting documents and follow up on exceptions to keep financial data current and reliable.

• Communicate with vendors and internal stakeholders to address invoice questions, payment status inquiries, and account issues professionally.

• Maintain organized payment files and supporting records to strengthen audit readiness and support reporting needs.

• Monitor outstanding items and help prioritize payment activity to avoid delays, duplicate payments, or missed obligations.

• Experience supporting accounts payable functions in a finance or accounting environment with a strong focus on accuracy and detail.

• Ability to code invoices and assign charges accurately based on account structure or established guidelines.

• Working knowledge of ACH processing and routine check payment cycles.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies and correct errors efficiently.

• Comfort handling multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, transaction-heavy setting.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with vendors and internal teams.

• Proficiency with standard accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for payment tracking and reconciliation.
